Andover's Fazio Named Basketball Coach Of The Year

Fazio has a 462-220 record and 9 conference championships in 30 years of coaching boys basketball.

From Andover Schools:Andover High School Coach Dave Fazio was selected as theMassachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) 2019 MIAA Boys’ Basketball Coach of the Year. The MIAA honors Coach Fazio based on his excellence of character, impact upon students and community and coaching credentials. Coach Fazio recently completed his 30th year as AHS Boys Varsity Coach with a record of 462-220 and nine Merrimack Valley Conference championships during that time.

“For the past 30 years, Coach Fazio has offered such dedication to his teams and our community,” says Athletic Director Bill Martin. “He is an excellent coach and exemplary role model; I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor.” “Coach Fazio is an inspiration to all at AHS,” adds Principal Philip Conrad. “For many years, Dave has set such a great example for our students and colleagues and it’s great to see him acknowledged for his hard work.”

“We are proud the MIAA has chosen to honor Coach Fazio as their 2019 Boys Basketball Coach of the Year,” notes Superintendent Sheldon Berman. “Coach Fazio is a credit to the Andover community, and we are grateful for his many years mentoring our students and athletes.”
The award recognizes “teacher coaches” who have had an impact on the lives of student- athletes by encouraging them to develop self-confidence, sound work ethic, and values for student athletes’ success in their future endeavors. The Coach of the Year Award will be presented to Coach Fazio at the MIAA Awards Recognition Banquet in May.
