Candidates Get An Early Jump On Andover Election

As of Thursday, four candidates had pulled papersto run for school committee, in addition to the previously declared selectmen candidates.

ANDOVER, MA -- Dan Koh and incumbent Alex Vispoli have taken out nomination papers for the two selectmen seats up for reelection in March. Paul Salafia announced this week he would not run for a third term. But other candidates are also considering runs, with four candidates at least thinking about running for two open seats school committee

School Committee Chair Shannon Scully and Vice Chair Paul Murphy may have challengers in their reelection bids. In addition to the two incumbents, Shishan Wang and Joseph Grieve had taken out nomination papers as of Thursday afternoon. Grieve is a student at Andover High School.

To get their names on the ballot, potential candidates take out nomination papers from the town clerk's office and have until Tuesday, Feb. 5 to return them with singnatures of 50 registered Andover voters. The election is on Tuesday, March 26. The last day to register to vote in the election in Wednesday, March 6.
