Ciarletta Named Boys Hockey Coach

The 30 year old teacher coached at North Quincy High and played at Arlington Catholic, Bentley College, and UMass Boston.

Mike Ciarletta, a Lynn teacher and Watertown native, has been named the new Andover High School boys ice hockey coach.

Ciarletta, 30, spent two seasons from 2007-2009 coaching for North Quincy High School making the state tourney in both years. His team went 23-13-7 in that span.

Last season he moved on to Buckingham Browne & Nichols as an assistant coach.

Ciarletta will replace Scott Manty as the team’s head coach after Manty coached four games to close out the 2010-11 season on an interim basis.

The highlight of Manty’s regime was a in the first game after longtime head coach Mario Martiniello was fired.

The in the first round of the MIAA North Division 1 playoffs last year after Manty took over 15 days prior.

In his playing days, Ciarletta was a forward for Arlington Catholic High School before moving on to Bentley College. Ciarletta played in 39 games for Bentley scoring six goals and tallying five assists.

He then transferred to UMass Boston where he played in 64 games over three years. During that span he netted 12 goals and had 18 assists.
