Join local Historian, Charlotte Lyons for a tour of South Church Cemetery in downtown Andover, hosted by the Andover Historical Society.
Charlotte Lyons will use the persons of the South Church cemetery to tell about Andover's history of slavery, abolitionism, and role in the Civil War. Learn from the people who owned slaves to slaves who fought in the American Revolution, to underground railroad homes, to soldiers, to veterans who returned to Andover, and the many who did not return at all.
Visit the graves of those who served during the Civil War and hear the stories of men and women who lived during this notable era of American History.Tour will begin in front of South Church. Free for Historical Society members, $5 for non-members.
