High Tea & History - "The Pole Hill Murder

Pole Hill was a Ballard-vale summer hot spot in the late 19th century. Upriver from the Ballardvale dam was the "Shawsheen Grove" at Pole Hill. This was a favorite place to picnic during the summer months. There were two swimming holes, a cook house, and a dance pavilion. In 1900, tragedy struck during a picnic at the grove when a man was shot to death during an altercation. Join Jane Cairns as she talks about the picnic tragedy at Pole Hill. This event is held in the Senior Center‘s Four Seasons Room.
