Five Summer Sports Camps for the Kids

Check out five different sports camps and clinics happening this summer.

Softball

The Andover Girls Softball League’s Primary League is accepting late registrations for the summer season. The season runs through August 5 and features two games per week. Games are Monday – Thursday.

Now is your last chance, because the late registration period ends tomorrow, Wednesday, June 22. Girls that are in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade are welcome to register.

Football

The Andover Warrior Football School has begun registration for the summer. Kids ages 7-16 are eligible.

The Andover Football School aims to teach the fundamentals of football. Cost is $235 per student. The school runs July 18-22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The school is located at Doherty Middle School on 50 Bartlet Street. Staff members include Ken Maglio, a former coach of Andover High School, and Ken Pellerin, another former football coach.

Baseball

The Andover Baseball School has also begun registration for the summer. Kids ages 7-15 are eligible.

The school aims to teach the fundamentals of baseball and requires students to arrive with a glove and bat.

There are three sessions this summer. The first session is from June 27 to July 1 costs $235. The second session is from July 5-8 and costs $190. The third session is from July 11-15 and costs $235.

The school is located at Doherty Middle School on 50 Bartlet Street. Staff members include Ken Maglio, former head baseball coach of Andover High School, and as well as Richie Robinson and David Gangi.

Soccer

Andover Soccer Clinic

This clinic is for students ages 5-14 and features two sessions.

The first session is for boys and girls ages 5-7. It is designed to teach fundamentals. It will run June 27-July 1. The time of the clinic is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.. The clinic costs a fee of $120.

The second session is for boys only, ages 8-14. This is a more advanced clinic and will run from July 25-29. The clinic times are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m..

For both clinics, students are required to bring a soccer ball, shin pads, and cleats. Staff members include Bill Tarbox, a varsity soccer coach for 38 years, and Fred Tarbox, current Haverhill High School girls varsity coach.

Goals for Girls Soccer Academy

The Goals for Girls Academy is for girls ages 6-14 as well as incoming high school freshman.

Students can do either full day or half day sessions between August 1-5. Half days are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and cost $135 for the five days. Full day sessions are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and cost $225 for the five days.

Meghan Matson is a head staff member; she is the head girls varsity soccer coach at Andover High. Coach Anne Marinaro is also a staff member; she is a former varsity coach of Central Catholic and Chelmsford High Schools.
