Save a Life - Learn CPR

Instead of feeling helpless in the case of an emergency, learn CPR, at the Andover DCS one-day course on April 30, 2015.

According to the American Heart Association 70% of Americans feel helpless to act during a cardiac emergency because their either do not know, or do not remember, how to properly administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Instead of feeling helpless in the case of an emergency, learn CPR, at the Andover DCS one-day course on April 30, 2015. DCS offers this course annually, and will be running the program in conjunction with the Andover Safety Center, led by Sgt. Christopher Moore and & Safety Officer Charles Edgerly.

During this one-day course, participants will learn basic life saving skills for infants, children, and adults as supplied by the American Heart Association. In addition, prudent health care concerns, risk factors, and some pediatric injury prevention will be discussed. Participants will also be taught the basics on how to use an Automatic External Defibrillator.

There are many reasons to learn CPR, most importantly being that you could save someone’s life in the event of an at-home emergency situation (88% of cardiac arrests occur at home, much of the time without prior risk factors or knowledge of heart disease*). However, other reasons to learn can include: job requirements, resume building, babysitting/childcare opportunities, and most notably, it’s easy to learn, and anyone can do it!
