Two Men Sought in Computer Parts Larceny Scheme

A grand jury indicted three men on stealing high-value computer central processing units and then selling them online. Two remain at large.

An Essex County grand jury indicted three men on larceny and money laundering charges involving a stolen computer parts scheme at a Hewlett-Packard facility in Andover. Two of the men are still at large and the Essex County District Attorney’s office and Andover Police are asking for the public’s help.

The DA’s office said Richard Gomez, 30, of Salem, NH, Jose Padilla (aka Juan Santana), 29, of multiple addresses in Merrimack Valley, and Jose Del Rosario, 28, of Lawrence, were employed by Hewlett-Packard in Andover.

“The indictments allege that they removed high-value central processing units out of computers and replaced them with inferior parts prior to the computers being shipped from the warehouse. The high-value central processing units were allegedly then sold online. They concealed their alleged thefts by repeatedly targeting small portions of large shipments. The retail value of the parts stolen from Hewlett-Packard is estimated to be approximately $1 million.

“All three men have been indicted on Larceny over $250, Receiving Stolen Property over $250, and Money Laundering charges. Padilla and Gomez were also indicted for Falsifying Corporate Books.”

Police issued arrest warrants for Padilla and Del Rosario, who are at large.
