ACA Fall 2015 Classes Starting Next Week!

The Arlington Center for the Arts is excited to kick off its Fall 2015 semester of innovative and engaging art classes starting next week. Whether your passion is for watercolor, illustration, textile arts, or more, ACA is sure to have an exciting arts class suited to your interests.

Interested in painting, drawing, sculpting, photography, and/or metalworking? Ever wondered how to create your very own Renaissance art through the principles of Shamanic Journeying? Or how to create vivid, expressive textile or book art?

Here’s just a preview of some of the creative and innovative arts classes being offered at ACA this Fall:

For Adults

- All Levels Watercolor (with Marjorie Glick): This class is geared towards those with a basic knowledge of watercolor, as well as those who are more advanced. We begin with a review of the basics of wash, wet into wet, transparent layering, and color mixing. Students will then progress to work on subjects of their own choosing. Click here to register.

- Making Metal Jewelry (with Karenna Maraj): You will solder, saw, hammer, set stones, and make hollow forms to create any form of jewelry. Beginners welcome; students with experience will perfect skills and learn new techniques including stone setting. Click here to register.

For Teens

- Teen Clubhouse (Gr 6 - 9, with Chris LeGare): What better way to spend a Friday night than hanging out with friends and making art? Each class will begin with a guided lesson exploring a variety of 2D and 3D mediums. Supplies and snacks provided each week. It’s an ideal forum to brainstorm and make new friends. - Dynamic Drawing for Teens (Gr 6 - 10, with Chris LeGare): Draw from real life and your imagination! Techniques studied in this course include negative space, tracing, shading, perspective, drawing from photographs, and still life. This course is for anyone who loves to draw and would like to improve their skills. Click here to register.

For Children

- Young Artists Club (Gr 3 - 5, with Beth Dalal): Printmaking is the fascinating art of creating an image that can be transferred to other surfaces. In this class, students will learn to make their own stamps, use the power of the sun to create an image, and customize their own cards and t-shirts! Click here to register.

- Creative Cartooning (Gr 3 - 5, with Sue Rice): Have you ever wanted to create characters from your favorite graphic novels? Develop characters, settings, and dialog to create your own comic strips and graphic novels from your imagination. Learn how images, exaggeration, character development and expression can make your ideas come to life. Click here to register.
