Arlington Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year

Colby Madden was named the Arlington Boys & Girls Club's Youth of the Year! He will compete in the state tournament on June 5-6th.

The Arlington Boys & Girls Club is proud to introduce our 2016 Youth of the Year, Colby Madden. Colby Madden is a 14 year old freshman at Arlington High School. Youth of the Year, is the most prestigious award a Boys & Girls Club member can receive. Colby has been a Club member since 2004. He is a member of the Dolphins Swim Team and AHS Junior Varsity Volleyball Team. A natural leader among his peers, Colby prides himself on his character. This past summer Colby volunteered over 80 hours as a part of the Career Launch Program. Due to his stellar job as a volunteer, Colby was offered a position at the Front Desk as a Junior Staff. Even though Colby is now a Junior Staff member, he continues to volunteer countless hours at ABGC and in the community.

Outside of the Club, Colby is very active with the Armenian Church Youth Organization of America, ACYOA. With ACYOA Colby helps run “High Café” where teens turn the church into a restaurant to help raise money for the church each month. In addition, Colby uses his leadership skills to help plan the annual sports weekends in October and May. Finally, Colby visits a local Nursing Home each holiday season with ACYOA.

As a Club staff member described, “Colby is a gem. He walks through our front doors each day and children and staff eagerly greet him. He truly has made a positive impact on our Club even though he is only 14 years old.” Colby will represent the Arlington Boys & Girls Club at the Massachusetts State Youth of the Year Competition on June 5th and 6th at Westfield State University. We wish him all the best and are proud to have him representing our organization!
