Arlington Man Arrested in Connection with Carjacking, Separate Armed Robbery: Police

The man was arrested in Somerville with several hypodermic needles and $139.00 in cash.

BOSTON, MA — An Arlington man was arrested in Somerville after an alleged carjacking in Boston and was also charged in connection with an armed robbery in Somerville, according to Boston police.

Jonathan Daniell, 28, of Arlington is alleged to have stolen a car in Charlestown and was subsequently arrested in Somerville. Somerville police informed officers that Daniell matched the description of a suspect who had committeed an armed robbery on Broadway Street.

Police say that Daniell had suddenly opened the car door of a vehicle which had just been started and stated stated “Get out! I need your car!” Police also allege that the suspect had gestured as if he was armed with a firearm.

According to Police, the suspect pulled away at a high rate of speed and nearly caused an accident. Daniell was later stopped in Somerville, and officers recovered several hypodermic needles and $139 in cash from Daniell's pockets.

When Somerville Police arrived on scene, they were able to positively identify Daniell as a suspect in the Somerville armed robbery.

Daniell was charged with armed carjacking and operating a motor vehicle after revocation or suspension. Daniell will also be charged separately for the armed robbery in Somerville.
