New City Microcreamery Postpones Arlington Grand Opening Event
The new store is open for business despite the postponement.
ARLINGTON, MA — New City Microcreamery has postponed the grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newest scoop shop in Arlington, delaying what was set to be an official community welcome for the growing Massachusetts-based ice cream company.
While the ceremonial opening has been delayed, the store at 311 Broadway remains open for business and continues serving customers ahead of the rescheduled celebration.
The event had originally been scheduled for Friday, June 12. It was expected to include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, complimentary kiddie scoops for guests, and a community celebration welcoming residents, families, and local leaders to the new location.

Despite the postponement, the Arlington shop remains an important milestone in New City Microcreamery's continued expansion across Massachusetts and its growing presence in the Greater Boston area.
Founded in Hudson in 2015, the business has built a loyal following through its chef-driven, small-batch ice cream made with high-quality ingredients and inventive flavors. Every batch is produced in-house at the company's production kitchen, where seasonal offerings and new flavor concepts are developed throughout the year.

The Arlington location occupies the former Abbott's Frozen Custard space and marks another step in the company's growth. New City now operates locations in Hudson, Sudbury, Cambridge, Arlington and Chestnut Hill.
"We're incredibly excited to officially join the Arlington community," co-founder Michael Kasseris said in a statement announcing the grand opening celebration. "From the moment we opened our doors, we've felt a warm welcome from the neighborhood. Arlington has such a strong sense of community, and we're looking forward to becoming part of people's traditions, especially during the summer season."
Known for its scratch-made ice cream and creative flavor offerings, New City has earned a reputation as one of Massachusetts' most recognizable independent ice cream brands. The company recently celebrated its 11th year in business and continues to expand while emphasizing quality, innovation and community engagement.
Company officials said details regarding a rescheduled ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration will be announced at a later date.
The business told Patch that a new date for the Arlington ribbon-cutting ceremony has not yet been finalized.
