Arlington Man Indicted in Alleged Knife Attack of Woman

The man is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on Nov. 17.

ARLINGTON, MA — An Arlington man was indicted in connection with an alleged armed breaking and entering that lead to an assault of a woman on Ridge Street in July. Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan announced Monday that Joseph DeAlmeida, 26, of Arlington was indicted on charges of home invasion, armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.

The assistant district attorney handling the case is Ceara Mahoney.

According to police, officers responded to a Ridge Street residence for a report of a woman being assaulted by a man with a knife at 11:52 a.m. on July 20. An officer working detail in the area arrived on scene and arrested DeAlmeida.

Police say that a witness heard the woman's call for help and was able to restrain DeAlmeida until police arrived. The woman was not hurt, police say.

DeAlmeida is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on Nov. 17.
