Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Our reputation for excellence is on display each time our students show their work at fashion shows and exhibits throughout the year. Monday, June 8 Jovenil Peixoto De Souza, 39, of 69 Washington St., was arrested on the charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, speeding, and a marked lanes violation. Tuesday, June 9 Rachel Roberts, 37, of 138 Willard St., Quincy, was arrested on the charges of an outstanding warrant and two counts of receiving a stolen credit card. Wednesday, June 10 Michael Ubilez, 50, of 1082 Main St., Woburn, was arrested on the charges of subsequent offense of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to stop for police. Trum Field

Fireworks return to Somerville skies on Tuesday, June 30, at the City annual summer celebration featuring live music, food, family-friendly activities, and of course, a fireworks finale.
Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with live music from Plutos Return, a Somerville High School alumni band. DJ Live will follow with a lively mix of pop, soul, funk, and classic hits, and at 7:45 p.m., local funk band Search Party takes the stage.
At approximately 9 p.m., Mayor Jake Wilson will deliver brief remarks, followed by the National Anthem and the official countdown to the fireworks show. Food vendors will be available throughout the evening, including local Somerville favorites, plus classic treats like fried dough and lemonade.Due to the large crowds and loud noise associated with Somerville Firworks, the City recommends that attendees leave pets at home and avoid bringing unnecessary bags or backpacks. All bags and backpacks are subject to inspection.
To support public safety and pedestrian access, traffic and parking restrictions and road closures will be in place in the area around Trum Field. Attendees are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

Leaders 4SC is a summer workshop for middle school (rising 5th to 10th grade) students on writing and speaking, as well as leadership, communication, decision-making, and advocacy. Our goal is to train the next generation of civic leaders: members of a community who actively participate in society.<a href="https://leaders4sc.org" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">SIGN&nbsp;UP</a>
By the end of each week, students will have<ul><li>Completed at least one writing or speaking assignment arguing for and defending their opinion on any current issues</li><li>Participated in daily discussions and activities on a different major current event every day</li><li>Participated in daily task force activities to role play as key decision makers and stakeholder</li><li>Discussed, debated, and bonded with an incredible group of engaged young people! </li></ul>
