Car Strikes Boy at Bike Path's Lake Street Crossing

The boy was knocked to the ground but was not injured.

A car struck a boy on a bicycle at about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday at the Minuteman Bike Path’s Lake Street crossing in East Arlington.

The boy was knocked to the ground, but he was not injured, other than a small cut on his left knee, according to police.

The boy, riding westbound, said he stopped at the bike path’s stop sign and then rode forward because he thought the car was stopping for him. He said the car tried to stop but slid on the wet pavement and crashed into him at a slow rate of speed.

The driver told police the boy pulled out in front of her and she hit her brakes but slid on the wet pavement.

Even though the boy said he was “completely fine,” police had EMTs check him out as a precaution and called his mother to the scene. He was able to ride his bicycle home, police said.
