Cold Medicine and Glasses Pilfered in Arlington

The following information comes from Arlington Police Department reports.

A man presumably suffering from dire cold symptoms was caught after allegedly shoplifting from the 324 Mass Ave. Walgreens on Friday, Feb. 13., around 10:30 a.m.

Police say they found dubiously-acquired containers of Zicam Extreme Congestion Relief, Ice Breakers, and 4-Way Fast Acting Nasal Spray on the suspect after pulling him over whilst he attempted his getaway driving on Broadway toward Arlington Center.

Earlier that morning, a Walgreens employee noticed a tall white man in a tan shirt and blue jeans gathering items from the cold medicine aisle, who proceeded to make his exit without exchanging any currency for the goods. A store manager followed him outside, watched him drive away, and told police what kind of car to look out for.

After his apprehension and subsequent return to Walgreens, the suspect returned the ill-gotten meds. While criminal charges won’t be pressed, police say, Walgreens Corporate Loss Prevention Office will pursue a civil claim, and the suspect is no longer welcome at Walgreens.
