Gear up for spring with the Herring Run and Paddle

A 5K road race and 3, 9 or 12 mile paddling race on the Mystic River in Somerville on Sunday, May 17th!

The 19th annual Mystic River Herring Run and Paddle is a major fundraiser for the Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA), consisting of a 5K run/walk and a 3, 9 or 12 mile paddling race on Sunday, May 17th. The event includes music, food and educational exhibits. All events are held at the DCR Blessing of the Bay Boathouse in Somerville. The 5K course continues along the Mystic River bike path and through DCR Torbert MacDonald Park. There are no street crossings on this flat course. The Herring Run and Paddle engages the public in an outdoor, recreation-focused setting while providing education about environmental conditions and celebrating the return of the herring to the Mystic.
