How Has Arlington Voted in Past Presidential Elections?
Will Arlington buck its Democratic trend in this election? History says its not likely.

ARLINGTON, MA — If the most recent elections are any indication of future results, former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is likely to earn the most votes in Arlington.
According to voting totals posted on the town website, the Democratic candidate has won the town in each of the past four presidential election cycles. The Republican candidate never really came close to defeating his Democratic adversary in each of the past four cycles.
In the most recent presidential election (2012), the campaign of President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden won 71.88 percent of the votes in town, defeating the campaign of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and current house speaker Paul Ryan's 25.76 percent of the vote.

Arlingtonians haven't always selected the candidate who went on to win the general election, however. Former Massachusetts Senator John Kerry won Arlington by a large margin in 2004, defeating the campaign of former president George W. Bush by a total of 1,399 votes. The Democrat Al Gore also won Arlington in 2000, defeating Bush by 9,524 votes.
However, as we now know, Bush went on to win those elections.
In each of the past four election cycles, over 80 percent of registered Arlington voters have cast their votes. 84.67 percent of Arlington's registered voters turned out for the election in 2012; 84.48 percent of Arlingtonian voters participated in 2008; 82.98 percent voted in 2004; and 83.2 percent cast ballots in 2000.
