Identity Theft Seems to be on the Rise

The most important thing to do to protect yourself is to check for unauthorized activity on your accounts. And then call your credit card company or financial institution to follow-up, if you see anything suspicious or unusual. In addition you can receive your free credit reports from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion once every 12 months. Victims of identity theft can place a fraud alert and/or a credit freeze on their credit files.  I also think that simply using cash, whenever possible is the safest way to go. For more information go to: www.annualcreditreport.com and www.ftc.gov
