Long Slides at Robbins Farm Park Could Be Back by Fall
But at a price tag of $50,000, paying for one of Arlington's favorite spots will take some fundraising.

Cindy Starks was walking her dog recently, when she noticed a group of sad-looking children at . They were staring at the hole that now sits where the park’s famous long slides used to be.
“Don’t worry, they’ll be back,” Starks told them.
The Friends of Robbins Farm Park are hoping that the promise made by Starks, the chair of Arlington’s School Committee, can be fulfilled by next fall. But it will take them some work to fundraise the $25,000 necessary to replace the .

"The town had to completely remove them; they were far too damaged to repair," said Barry Russell, a board member of the Friends of Robbins Park. "They had been repaired over the years, but it had just gotten tot he point where they had to go."
The total price of replacing the slides is $50,000. Arlington Parks and Recreation has already committed $25,000 to the project. Now it's up to the Friends of Robbins Farm Park to raise the rest. And they're hoping to get help from folks around town.

Russell told the School Committee on Tuesday that the Friends are beginning to organize fundraisers to get the money, which the organization will match as their funds allows them. She said the hope is to have the slides back by next fall.
