Massachusetts Avenue Businesses Will be Open Throughout Construction This Week

Massachusetts Avenue will be done on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings with the side street locations to follow.

The Massachusetts Avenue Reconstruction Project is continuing with work underway on both sides of Massachusetts Avenue.

It is anticipated that cold planing of Massachusetts will commence the week of August 31, and will take place during the overnight hours between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

.Details about this overnight work are described below. Please note that all Massachusetts Avenue businesses are open throughout construction.

During the week of Aug. 31, the contractor has no regularly scheduled work; however, there may be utility work by others progressing. Cold planing was scheduled to begin on Sunday, Aug. 30 during the overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and is anticipated to be complete by Thursday, Sept. 3.

Massachusetts Avenue will be done on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings with the side street locations to follow on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Temporary pavement markings will be installed in conjunction with this work.

During the week of September 7, landscaping work (trees and shrubbery) will begin project-wide. Pending scheduling with Eversource, the transfer of private electric service to the new utility poles will occur at three locations.

Note that there will be no project work on Monday, September 7 due the Labor Day holiday.
