Patch's Arlington Police Officer of the Month: Officer Brett Blanciforti

Patch has selected Arlington Police Officer as the Officer of the Month.

ARLINGTON, MA—Officer Brett Blanciforti has been selected as Patch's Arlington Police Officer of the Month.

Patch has learned that Officer Blanciforti played a crucial role in the investigation of a violent robbery on Broadway. After processing information given by the victim, Blanciforti immediately went to work identifying one of the suspects.

On May 20 and 21, Police responded to a man lying unconscious in the street, and discovered that the victim had sustained a serious injury to his right eye. Subsequent investigation revealed that the victim was walking in the area of Broadway and Foster streets, when he was approached behind by a juvenile male on a bicycle, according to police.

An argument ensued, and the juvenile assaulted the victim. The two suspects took the victim's canvas bag, which contained his wallet and credit cards.

Blanciforti knew that one of the juveniles who lives at a Massachusetts Ave. group home was a habitual runaway and suspected of committing crimes while "on the run." Blanciforti and another officer came in contact with the juvenile while at the home, and were able to make a connection between the juvenile and the description provided by the victim.

Subsequent investigation lead to arrest warrants being issued for the juvenile and accomplice in a matter of days after Blanciforti and the other officer came in contact with the individual.
