Patch's Arlington Police Officer Of the Month: Officer Robert Smith

ARLINGTON, MA—Arlington Police Officer Robert Smith has been selected as Patch's Officer of the Month!

Patch has learned that Officer Smith played a crucial role in the investigation of the staged armed robbery investigation that occurred at the Kickstand Cafe' on March 31, and continually conducts thorough investigations and maintains his personal appearance in an outstanding manner.
Smith assisted officers in digging for further information, interviewing witnesses and helped to identify the suspect of the staged robbery at the Kickstand Cafe'. Smith and his teammates were able to piece together what allegedly occurred during the incident, which lead to the arrests of two suspects on charges of armed robbery, breaking and entering and other felonies.

In addition, Smith was instrumental in handling an unfortunate situation regarding a detainee at the police department. During the bailing process of a detainee who was allegedly under the influence of drugs and behaving aggressively towards officers, Smith and another officer were able to used hand controls and were able to subdue the detainee safely until Arlington Fire Department and Rescue arrived to transport him to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
The detainee's mother, who was present at the time, commended the officers on manner in which the sensitive situation was handled.
