Pedestrian Walking His Dog Struck By A Motor Vehicle

Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department is investigating an incident where a pedestrian was hit by a motor vehicle on Thursday night.

On July 23, around 9:35 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Lancaster Road on a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle.

Police located a conscious man on the ground. He told an officer that while he was walking his dog, he crossed Massachusetts Avenue from the south side to the north side and was hit by a vehicle in traffic.

The man was taken Lahey Clinic by ambulance with non life threatening injuries. His dog was not harmed. The operator of the vehicle remained on scene and was interviewed by police.

“We are thankful the pedestrian was not seriously injured,” Chief Ryan said. “The operator of the vehicle is cooperating with police as we continue our investigation.”

The matter remains under investigation by the Arlington Police Department.
