Police to Hold Meeting on Anti-Addiction Drug Vivitrol
The medication is being hailed as the only non-addictive, non-narcotic to prevent opiate relapse.
Arlington Police will be holding a community meeting next week to discuss Vivitrol, and they want any opium users and their family’s to attend.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, Jan. 26 from 7-8 p.m. at Whittemore-Robbins House, is part of the Arlington Community Training and Support series, also known as A.C.T.S.
“This is a great opportunity for residents who are struggling with addiction and looking to recover to learn about the life-saving drug Vivitrol that has been proven to prevent relapses,” Chief Ryan said in a press release.

Vivitrol is a once-monthly, non-addictive, non-narcotic medication which prevents relapse after detox from opium addiction. Katherine Gorham from Square Medical Group of Watertown will be the guest speaker at the meeting.
“We’re grateful that our partnership with Square Medical has allowed us to bring Ms. Gorham, who has direct experience with Vivitrol and treating individuals with opioid addiction, to this event,” Ryan said in the release.

At the meeting attendees can expect to learn about how Vivitrol may help them, or their loved ones, battle addiction. Free doses of Narcan, another medication to help battle addiction, will be provided at the meeting.
Arlington A.C.T.S. is part of The Arlington Outreach Initiative, the police department’s drug addiction program.
