Nubia Williams, BFA Fashion Design graduate from Parsons The New School For Design in New York City, will be teaching fashion courses for the Pre-College program at Lesley University College of Art and Design beginning February 21st, 2015.
The course is being offered to high school juniors and seniors for college credit. Students will earn no credit, simply college level design experience, for the 4 week course. Students who complete the 7 week course will earn 1 college credit. Williams will be helping ALL students prepare for design school college admission portfolios as well as teach the fundamental design skills necessary to progress at a college level. The 4 week course is $75 + a $45 materials fee and the 7 week course is $125 + a $45 materials fee.
This class will introduce students to the 2D elements of fashion design. Students study and develop the basic structure unique to the fashion croqui figure and its characteristics. A focus on the draping of garments, the rendering of fabric textures, collage and the use of appropriate light and value will also be undertaken. Advance your basic drawing skills while deepening your knowledge of fashion and it’s components. Individual interpretation and creating evocative, dramatic images are emphasized. Students will begin portfolio preparation for college admission.
