Restorative Justice In Arlington: Maura Healey To Speak

Arlington Police and Communities for Restorative Justice are celebrating and raising money to benefit the program.

ARLINGTON, MA — Arlington and the police-partnership with is celebrating 18 years, so the town is throwing a party to raise money for the program.

The Communities for Restorative Justice is a community-police partnership that works this way: Police departments refer cases they consider appropriate to the restorative justice program and, if the person finishes a program and process, they can head home with no criminal record.

Attorney General Maura Healey will be the keynote speaker at “Expanding the Circle,” a fund-raiser for Communities for Restorative Justice on Wednesday, April 11, at Arlington Town Hall. The topic? Restorative justice in the state. Arlington’s Police Chief, Fred Ryan, is on Communities for Restorative Justice's board and will emcee the event.

"Communities for Restorative Justice is a community-police partnership that aims to build strong, respectful communities by responding to crime in ways that heal, hold accountable, and put right," reads the invite.
