In case you didn’t know, the Summer Reading theme this year is Tails and Tales. What better way to honor this than by staff sharing pics of beloved furry (scaly or feathered) companions and current reads?

If you’re participating in the Adult Summer Reading Challenge, complete a bingo square by taking a selfie with your pet. We’re not saying you *have* to post it, but we surely can’t refuse a cute pic with a doggo (or kitty)!

Stephanie is reading a mystery with Pepper!

The tail belongs to Fern the cat, and the tale Andrea is reading is Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. Happy summer reading!

Cat on the left is Pickles. Cat on the right Midnight. Nick is currently reading Songs of a Dead Dreamer and Grimscribe by Thomas Ligotti.

Sheila lets Henry choose the book. He examines the color plate. He checks the binding. Then he settles in to read the classic Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

Katy’s pets include Amelia (cat) and Kurt and Laura Kinney (axolotls). They’re currently reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and Polysecure by Jessica Fern.

This is Pandora and she’s excited to be part of this pets and books blog. Pam is currently reading Octavia Butler’s Kindred: A Graphic Novel Adaptation by Damian Duffy and John Jennings.

This is Milo ready to head to the office. Although Milo is no longer with us, this is one of Lynne’s favorite pictures of him. Lynne is currently re-reading the Outlander series before the latest book comes out in November.

Linda and her dog Petri are currently reading The Genius of Birds by Jennifer Ackerman.

Willow and Mary would like to introduce their gang, Jake, Simon, Bandit, Echo the Gecko, and Misha. Titles include Alien Taste by Wen Spencer, Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs, Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs, How to be a Good Creature by Sy Montgomery, and Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

Verónica is currently reading Queen of the Cicadas by V. Castro. She enjoys curling up with a book next to her cats, Nino and Stella, and her forever puppy, Olivia.

Steve’s cat, Aurora, was not into getting her picture taken with a book. What did Steve do? Use his photoshop skills, of course! Steve is currently reading All Systems Red by Martha Wells.
