Saint Athanasius The Great Church In Arlington To Get New Pastor

It looks like Saint Athanasius The Great Church In Arlington won't be bringing back Father Nick, despite all the protests.

ARLINGTON, MA — It looks like the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston, which has been at the center of months of criticism about its handling of the ouster of a popular priest at its Arlington Parish will not be bringing back Father Nick.

The head of the church announced Tuesday it had appointed Reverend Fr. Anthony S. Evangelatos as the new, permanent Parish Priest of Saint Athanasius the Great Church in Arlington.

Evangelatos will be "installed" at the Saint Athanasius Vespers Service on January 17 and commence formal duties on February 1, the Metropolis announced.

“Father Evangelatos will work closely with his brothers and sisters in the household of God to labor for continued spiritual growth of Arlington’s beloved parish,” said Metropolitan Methodios.

Evangelatos previously served as Proistamenos of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton, where he led the weekly liturgical worship services as well as all parish ministries, including youth, young adult, senior citizens, catechetical and religious educational seminars. He also served as Proistamenos of the Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Newport, RI and of the Saint George Orthodox Church in Eugene, OR.
