Snow Emergency Declared In Arlington

The on-street parking ban goes into effect at 6 p.m., Feb. 8. Monday's trash collection has been postponed.

The City of Arlington issued the following statement:

The Town has declared a snow emergency/parking ban, effective February 8, at 6 p.m. (Mass. Ave. and Broadway at 8 p.m.). The ban will be in effect until further notice.

During a Snow Emergency, a parking ban is in place on all streets, permitted spots, and municipal parking lots, except Russell Common lot. It is crucial to keep cars off the streets during this time to allow the Town to clear the roads. Any vehicles parked on the streets during these hours will be subject to ticketing and towing. Parking at the Russell Common Parking lot is on a first come first served basis. Cars parked here during the emergency must be moved four hours after the ban is lifted. DPW has requested that residents park their cars closest to the Arlington Catholic side of the lot. Please see map here.

After a storm it is equally important for all residents and businesses to keep public walkways, fire hydrants, and catch basins clear. Public safety officials are asking residents to not put snow in roadways. The Town understands the challenging conditions created by recent snow accumulations. Putting snow in the roadways is creating significant public safety issues and residents are asked for their cooperation in keeping Arlington a safe place for all.

Please monitor local media for updated storm conditions.
