Rotary Club holds Annual Installation Night

Wednesday evening, June 18 the Rotary Club of Attleboro held it's annual Installation Night.  The new leadership for the upcoming year was announced as well as recognition was given to Rotarians that have exceeded the Rotary motto of Service Above Self.  Current Club President Bill Mahoney passed the torch to Jim Jones who will be the Club President for the upcoming year.  Bill Mahoney was recognized for his energetic leadership during the past year.  We were reminded that the Rotary Club during the past year helped the community with approximately $45,000 of support for local needs; including Spring Fling, Elders Dental Clinic, Thanksgiving dinners, food pantries, soup kitchens as well as supporting area non-profits and other area needs.  Through Bill's leadership we have a very active and growing Interact Club at Attleboro High School.  Incoming President Jim Jones spoke about his vision for the up coming year.  We are all looking forward to working with Jim and excited to make his vision a reality.  Everyone has embraced Jim and pledged their support "with whatever it takes", we will continue to better our community in our SERVICE ABOVE SELF.
Each year the Rotary Club bestows Paul Harris Fellow Award(s).  Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary and the award Rotary's highest honor awarded to a member or members who have far exceeded the expectations of a Rotarian.  This year the Club recognized the hard work and talents of Sheila Lincoln (CVNA - retired) and Joan Ricci (Exec. Dir. of The Literacy Center) presenting each of them with a Paul Harris Fellow award.  Congratulations.
The Club also presented the Ed Kelley Award to Jann Alden (Bristol County Savings Bank).  The Ed Kelley Award is for that member who most embodies the spirit of true club fellowship in memory of our former member Ed Kelley.
The Rotary Club of Attleboro continues to serve the local community.  It is a wonderful group of talented individuals that together as a Club do outstanding things and really make a difference.
