Back for it’s 6th year, Attleboro’s Expo for the Senses returns with it’s yearly crowd pleasers as well as a new addition this year. Assuming the weather stays cooperative, the event will take place on Saturday, June 21st. ***
The Expo is an annual event held in the center of the city, featuring different items and attractions for both children and adults, alike. As always, face painting returns as a popular go-to spot for kids of all ages. Artist Adam Cristaldi will be back once again providing lucky Expo-goers with Caricatures. Another artist, Quincy Harding, will also be joining Adam this year, giving others added opportunity to take home an exaggerated portrait of themselves. It’s important to note that the caricature slots get taken up quickly, so it’s best to arrive earlier than later.
Following a stop at the aforementioned areas, one can make their way in a number of different directions. Capron Park Animals will be back again, showing off some of what they have to offer just down the street. If you head toward the center of town, you’ll come to a nice place to take a break during the day, as local restaurants will be set up serving up samplings of their dishes. The food will cost from $1-$5, with beverages being an additional $1 - a very affordable value. Meanwhile, nearby the food will be entertainment, as live music will be going on all day at the Bridgewater State University Music Tent. Take a break and grab a spot in the shade while you take in some musical talents.

Featured at this year’s Flower Show, Sandtasia will return to sculpt a sand sculpture right in front of your very eyes! Watch and be amazed as these great sand artists take a pile of sand and turn it into a wonder for the eyes! Just a few steps from the sand-sculpting is where Attleboro Jewelers will be holding a jewelry sale and exhibit, also featuring a special raffle from the vendors.
Whereas last year featured a zip line, this year, the Expo will feature a ferris wheel. For children and adults alike, this ride will also help provide a nice walking break during the day as you can check out an elevated view of some of Attleboro.

As far as the Museum is concerned, a special kids craft area will again be set up just outside the park street entrance for kids to let their creative side out. One knows they’ll be inspired by all of the chalk drawing going on just across the street. Local artists will be taking on the challenge of recreating a masterpiece artwork with chalk. Take in these sidewalk-wonders and vote for your favorite that day! The winner will be crowned Duke (Or Duchess) of Chalk. Also, a special exhibit from some great kid-artists will be on display, showing off the winners of our special “All Smiles Contest, sponsored by Salem Orthodontics.
Also featured on the same stretch of road will be artists and crafters selling their work and crafts. These items include original watercolor works of art, jewelry, origami, soaps, wearables, and much more at reasonable prices. Check out what’s on sale this year with the crafters.
4pm is when the decorated bike and carriage parade take place, as pre-school, elementary and middle school youngsters are invited to participate in the parade. In order to be a part of the parade, all participants are asked to decorate their own bicycle, carriage, wagon, big-wheel, or other wheeled vehicle in a creative way. The parade will go through the Expo grounds and participants will receive an exclusive Expo ribbon from Mayor Dumas at the conclusion.
With so much to see and take in, how can you say no to a day like this that comes only once each summer!? Stop by the Expo and take in the arts and entertainment that surround you, have some lunch, and take home something special from the crafters/artisans.
Make it a summer day you won’t forget.
