Cape Cod Man Drowns In Yarmouth Pond
The 29-year-old from South Yarmouth was pronounced dead on Saturday, police said.
YARMOUTH, MA — A 29-year-old South Yarmouth man drowned on Saturday after swimming at Long Pond, police said.
Yarmouth police and fire officials were called to Long Pond at 6:20 p.m. after the swimmer was reported missing. Officers were told that the man was last seen about 50-yards offshore.
Officials searched the shoreline before deploying Yarmouth Fire Department divers, who located the man about 100-yards offshore. He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man's identity hasn't been released as of Monday morning. Massachusetts State Police are investigating and Yarmouth police continue to investigate.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim and his family during this difficult time," the Yarmouth Police Department said.

This wasn't the only swimming-related call police on the Cape handled over the weekend. A five-year-old was pulled from a Sandwich pond on Sunday. He was hospitalized, but no update has yet been released.
