Cape Cod Statehouse Candidate Kasparian Violated Protective Order
Abrahan Kasparian Jr., a candidate in Barnstable's 1st District, was given five years of probation and a suspended two-year sentence.
BARNSTABLE, MA — A candidate for State Representative in Barnstable's 1st District was convicted of violating a harassment prevention order, the Cape Cod Times first reported.
Court documents show that Abraham Kasparian Jr., a third-party candidate, was convicted on Oct. 18 in Barnstable District Court. He received five years of probation and a suspended sentence of two years.
The decision stems from an arrest in Yarmouth in 2021 after documents show he violated a protective order. Kasparian told the paper he contacted the victim in the case, something he said he didn't know was against the protective order.

Kasparian, who is challenging Republican Tracy Post and Democrat Chris Flanagan for the seat vacated by Rep. Timothy Whelan, who is running for Barnstable County Sheriff, admitted to the paper that was in the wrong.
"Harassment orders must be taken seriously. I would’ve convicted me if I was on the jury," Kasparian said.
