New Programs at Hyannis Youth and Community Center
New programs appeal to adults and children.
With Spring underway, ahem, there are plenty of new spring and summer programs at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center. Many of these programs are a great deal for residents.
US FIGURE SKATING LEARN TO SKATE: Saturday mornings April 30-June 25 (Kindergarten, Badges 1-8, Freestyle 1-6); Mondays and Tuesdays Tots (ages 3-4), Monday evenings Adults April 25-June 20. Barnstable Resident fee: $100 (non-residents pay $110). No classes on May 28 or May 30.
BARNSTABLE SKATE PARK IS NOW OPEN FOR THE SEASON!
Hours are TUE-FRI 2:30pm-8pm; SAT & SUN 12pm-8pm; CLOSED MONDAYS. Pads are required at all times! NO EXCEPTIONS! Safety equipment is available to rent at the skate shack for $1 each (helmets, elbow and knee pads).

BEACH STICKERS / PARKING PERMITS
Beginning Monday, May 2 Beach Stickers / Parking Permits for Barnstable taxpayers will take place in the Shepley Room at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center located at 141 Bassett Lane, Hyannis MA. Hours will be Monday - Saturday 9am – 4pm. Sundays and Holidays 9am – 12pm. ROLLER HOCKEY IN THE BUTLER RINK
Tuesdays, May 3 - June 21 from 6-9pm Age 16+. Fee: $85 per player (includes jersey, referees and trophies!) EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: helmet, gloves, shin pads, roller blading skates. Facemask and elbow pads are optional but recommended. RECREATION BALL LEAGUE - Three 15 minute periods with running time. Stop time - last 2 mins of 3rd period with a score equal to or less than 2 goal lead. FULL NHL RULES APPLY with the following changes: NO off sides, automatic icing, no checking (incidental contact will be allowed) and no fighting.
DANCING LIKE THE STARS
Thursdays, May 5, 12 & 19 from 6-8pm Learn some new moves, or brush up on your skills and get ready for Prom! Instructor Doug McHugh and the staff from Ballroom Bliss will give tips that will make your special night one to remember. Available to anyone in Grades 8 through 12. HYANNIS MILES OF MEMORIES WALK
Sunday, May 15 from 11am-4pm. Expanding the Miles of Memories Walk that has had great success each year at the Canal/Bourne. The new route in Hyannis that starts and ends at the HYCC, we are proud to host the locally operated Alzheimer’s Services of Cape Cod & the Islands for this important fundraiser where all proceeds will be used to benefit local programs and services for families and caregivers affected by the disease. The route will go from the HYCC, around the roundabout to High School Road, left to Main Street then across the Village Green and across South Street to Aselton Park, down to the Harbor where there will be a turnaround water station at the HyLine Terminal. Walkers will make their way back the way they came and when they return to the HYCC walkers will get free entry to the “At Home on Cape Cod” Home Show. CAPE COD WAVES GIRLS BASKETBALL Cape Cod Spring Classic

Mondays & Wednesdays, June 6-July 26. Games each hour: Elementary Division at 6pm; Middle School Division at 7pm; High School Division at 8pm and Audlt Division at 9pm. AGE DIVISIONS: Elementary Division- Grades 2-4 Half sheet (Goggles required); Middle School Division- Grades 5-7 Full sheet; High School Division—Grades 8 and Up Full sheet; Adult Division– 19 and Over Full sheet (Division is determined by the grade you are currently in.) Cost is $100.00 per person (includes jersey, officials, score keepers, and trophies). Elementary Division cost is $75.00 per person. Games will be (2) 25 minute running time halves. BOSTON BRUINS FREE STREET HOCKEY CLINIC
Thursday, June 23 from 3-5pm. Just like last year, Boston Bruins Alumni and members of the Bruins Youth Hockey Development Team will be at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center to sponsor a FREE STREET HOCKEY CLINIC! As part of the NHL's efforts to support youth hockey development, the B's are generously donating all the equipment that we need to run a street hockey program! Participants can register for the six week program after the clinic! Ages 5-9: 3:00 to 3:45 and Ages 10-14: 4:00 to 5:00 in the Butler Rink. Sign up for the clinic at the HYCC Box Office starting June 1!

Barnstable Recreation Boys High School Summer Basketball League
Tuesdays and Thursdays. June 28-August 18. Seven week, 14 game regular season. One week play-off (Two division league, large school, small school, jv teams can enter either. This is to increase parity and keep teams involved throughout the season.) Top 4 teams in each division will advance to play-offs. Game times: 5:30pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm. Fee: $450 per team (based on 8 teams, may vary) and includes shirts, referees, trophies for 1st place, 2nd place, regular season MVP and play off MVP. Rules will be made available. Barnstable Recreation Summer Leisure Program: (Grades 1-8) July 5—August 19. Monday through Friday 8:30 AM—4:30 PM. This eight week program includes a variety of activities and special events including arts and crafts, sports, games, daily swimming at local beaches as well as weekly field trips. Barnstable Resident / Taxpayers: $700.00. Non-Residents / Visitors: $1,400.00.
