'Violent' Hyannis Cocaine Suspect Arrested: Police

Cape Cod police said Rashad Copper, of Hyannis, failed to appear at his arraignment on cocaine distribution charges.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A man from Hyannis with a "violent" criminal record was recently arrested after he failed to show up in court on cocaine distribution charges. Rashad Copper, 34, was arrested by Hyannis and Yarmouth police Friday.

Last month, Barnstable and Yarmouth police arrested Copper and two others during a drug raid in Hyannis at a Baxter Road residence. Police said they seized about 14 grams of cocaine, nearly $4,000 in cash, a video surveillance system, cell phones and digital scales at the residence. Copper was charged with cocaine distribution (subsequent offense), distributing drugs near a school/park and conspiracy.

Police said he subsequently failed to appear in court to answer to the charges and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Police said his criminal record included a charge related to a murder case.
