Belmont Church Seeks to Provide Moment of Peace on Election Day

Prayer vigil and service of Evening Prayer on November 8

In an effort to quell the anxiety of the presidential election, All Saints Episcopal Church in Belmont is holding an Election Prayer Vigil on Nov. 8, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All Saints the Rev. Cheryl Minor said the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts asked all parishes to hold a similar event around Election Day, so people can have a space to hold prayer for the election, regardless of the vote they cast.

"This campaign has led to bitter divisions in our country, and high anxiety for people on both sides. It is therefore very important that we all come together on election day and pray for peace both in our country and in our hearts," said Cheryl Minor.

From 7:00 am to 7:00 pm All Saints' will be open for individual prayer and meditation. People can come in at any time to pray, light a candle, and listen to music. Then at 7:00 pm the clergy will lead a service of Evening Prayer to conclude the vigil. People of all faiths are welcome to take advantage of this peaceful place!
