Belmont Man Charged in I-95 School Bus Rollover
The driver of a pickup truck that collided with the bus was cited for the crash, which resulted in minor injuries to 10 students.

BELMONT, MA – Police have charged the driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a school bus carrying 22 middle school students, causing it to roll over on I-95 near the Waltham-Weston line.
Scott D. Rossi, 29, of Belmont, was cited for negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unsafe lane change and failure to use care in passing.
The crash occurred Jan. 11 south of Route 20. The bus, a Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner, was carrying students from Ephraim Curtis Middle School in Sudbury.

The bus and a 2016 Silverado pickup truck collided, causing the bus to roll over the guardrail and onto an embankment leading to a stone ledge, state police said. The bus driver, a 54-year-old Everett man, the monitor, a 54-year-old man from Mattapan, and all 22 children were outside of the bus when police arrived.

Ten of the children were transported to the hospital with minor injuries; the remaining 12, as well as the bus driver and monitor, were evaluated at the hospital as a precaution, according to police. All were released that evening.
Police allege Rossi crossed multiple lanes of the highway without taking proper precautions to determine if there was another vehicle to his right. He remained at the scene following the collision, police said.
Rossi was cited on Jan. 18. A court date has not been set, but he will appear in Waltham District Court.
