MOONSTRUCK THEATER COMPANY is pleased to present FARRAGUT NORTH, opening Friday, April 1st, and running for four performances through Sunday, April 3rd.
Stephen Bellamy is the wunderkind press secretary for Democratic candidate for president Governor Morris. He has built a career that men twice his age would envy but, during a tight presidential primary race, Stephen's meteoric rise falls prey to the backroom politics of more seasoned operatives. FARRAGUT NORTH is a fast-paced drama about the lust for power and the costs one will endure to achieve it.
"The question you gotta ask yourself is whether you want friends, or whether you want to work for the President?"

FARRAGUT NORTH features 8 performers from the Greater Boston area, including Belmont resident Kria Sakakeeny who plays Ida Horowicz, a traveling political reporter for The New York Times, completely at home in the boys club of politics and dogged in her quest for a scoop.
“The timing of this play could not be better given that our country is in the midst of one of the most fascinating and unpredictable presidential primary races we’ve seen in a long time. The play offers an especially interesting behind the scenes look into politics and the people and the egos who are driving many of the decisions,” says Sakakeeny. She spent more than ten years as a TV reporter, most recently for WMUR-TV in New Hampshire where she covered the 2008 and 2012 presidential primaries; Sakakeeny has covered countless town hall meetings and primary debates, and reported live from Senator McCain’s campaign headquarters when he was declared the state’s Republican winner in 2008. “I understand the competitive and grueling lifestyle that both politics and reporting demand, and I was excited by how well FARRAGUT NORTH captures the intersection between the two professions.

Sakakeeny’s acting career in Boston started years ago with the Boston Children’s Theater. She took a very long hiatus from acting during her career as a TV reporter, but now that she has returned to the Boston area she has found the local theater scene to be thriving with talented actors, directors and playwrights. Kria works in media relations for the international NGO, Oxfam America, which is based just outside of the North End. She’s passionate about social justice and feels grateful for the chance to work for an organization that is dedicated to solving global poverty.
