• Field Hockey Team Aims to Defeat Elite Eight 'Curse' (belmontvoice.org) — Belmont High School's field hockey team is gearing up to finally push past its recent Elite Eight ceiling, even after graduating record-setting scorer Mackenzie Clarke. With a deep roster, standout captains, and several impact freshmen, coaches and players say they're aiming for home playoff games at Harris Field and a serious run at a state championship this fall.
   

• Recount begins in contested Boston-area state Senate race between incumbent Brownsberger and Wu-backed Lander (bostonglobe.com) — Belmont voters are part of a razor-thin Democratic primary recount in the Suffolk and Middlesex state Senate district, where incumbent Will Brownsberger holds a narrow lead over Wu-backed challenger Lander. Local officials in Belmont and neighboring cities are re-tallying ballots this week, and the final result could hinge on just over a hundred votes across the district.
