Boston Police Crossing Guard Charged With Child Rape: Department
The Boston police employee was placed on leave from his role as a Dorchester crossing guard.

BOSTON, MA — A Boston police crossing guard has been arrested on child rape charges, according to the department.
According to police, crossing guard David Spiers worked in the Dorchester area as a school traffic supervisor. He was arrested Tuesday on charges of two counts of rape of a child and one count of assault with intent to rape a child, police said.
Boston25 reported the charges are related to the abuse of two children that took place over several years.

Boston police Commissioner Michael Cox said the department's bureau of professional standards is conducting a parallel internal investigation.
"We are disturbed by these alleged allegations against a department employee," he said in a news release." The Boston Police Department remains committed to transparency and holds all of its employees accountable. The department is treating this investigation with the gravity it deserves."

Spiers was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigations.
