Former Gloucester Police Officer Sentenced To 4 Years In Federal Prison For Child Porn

The former officer accessed a site on the dark web "dedicated" to child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

BOSTON, MA — A former Gloucester police officer was sentenced to four years in federal prison for possessing child pornography.

Alexander Aiello, 34, a resident of Gloucester, had pleaded guilty in October to possession of child pornography.

"Several" times in 2024 and 2025, Aiello accessed a site on the "dark web that was dedicated to downloading, viewing, advertising and distributing" child sexual abuse material, according to a media release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Aiello and his residence were searched in April, and his cellphone, laptop and a thumb drive found in his bedroom nightstand were seized, the release said.

"An examination of the devices revealed that a TOR Browser — an application that provides anonymous web access and access to dark web hidden services — was installed and actively running on Aiello’s laptop with evidence of downloaded files consistent with recent use," the release said. "The USB drive was thoroughly encrypted and ... contained more than 200 files consistent with CSAM."

Aiellio was also sentenced to five years parole following his release from prison.
