Landmark College to Co-host LD Innovation Symposium at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Fifth annual symposium to feature latest findings in education for students with learning differences

Putney, VT (September 12, 2017) – Landmark College, a global leader in educating students with learning differences (LD), is partnering with the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to host the 5th Annual LD Innovation Symposium, “Diverse Technologies for Diverse Minds,” on September 29, 2017 beginning at 9:00 a.m. The symposium will be held at MIT and will feature the latest research, technology and innovations in the field of LD education.

During the conference, researchers from the Landmark College Institute for Research & Training (LCIRT), MIT, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Technical Education Research Centers (TERC) will deliver presentations, breakout sessions and interactive demonstrations on new developments that could improve education outcomes for students with LD.

“Continued growth of the LD Symposium speaks to Landmark College’s position as a leader in intentionally engineered programs for bright college students with LD,” said Dr. Peter Eden, President of the College. “We look forward to sharing the work and findings of our students and faculty, as well as that of other prominent researchers in the field.”

  • Eric Tridas, Ph.D. (Tridas Center): Keynote Speech – “ADHD and Learning, a Perfect Storm”
  • John Gabrieli, Ph.D. (MIT): Presentation – “Cognitive Neuroscience & Dyslexia: From Biology to Remediation”
  • Matthew Schneps, Ph.D. (Laboratory for Visual Learning): “Dyslexia Interventions: What Do You Do When All Else Fails?”
  • Ibrahim Dahlstrom-Hakki, Ph.D. (Landmark College) & Jodi Asbell-Clarke, Ph.D. (TERC): – “We Know More than We Can Tell: How Game-Based Learning Assessments Help Students Demonstrate their Knowledge”
  • Landmark College Students, Interactive breakout session – “Passage to Hunza: Developing Hands-On Educational Virtual Reality Games to Teach Statistics”
