MA Coronavirus Update: 33 More Dead, 868 More Cases
The death toll from the new coronavirus in Massachusetts hit 89 and total cases exceeded 6,000.
BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Tuesday announced 33 more deaths from the new coronavirus, bringing the state's death toll to 89. It was the biggest one-day jump the state has seen since the beginning of the outbreak
Officials also announced 868 more cases, bringing the total to 6,620
As testing has increased, cases have skyrocketed; almost 47,000 people have been tested so far.

There are 1,373 cases in Suffolk County, 1,340 cases in Middlesex County, 784 in Essex County and 738 in Norfolk County.
The new deaths were people ranging in age from their 50s to their 100s. This is the geographic breakdown:

- Nine deaths in Middlesex County
- One death in Berkshire County
- Six deaths in Essex County
- Seven deaths in Hampden County
- One death in Suffolk County
- Two deaths in Franklin County
- Two deaths in Norfolk County
- Two deaths in Worcester County
- Two deaths in Plymouth County
- One death in Hampshire County
