Malden Man Charged In Logan Security Breach Appears In Court
Sergiu Parfeni, 31, is accused of running onto the tarmac and sneaking into a plane's cargo hold.
MALDEN, MA — A Malden man charged in a security breach at Logan International Airport appeared in court Thursday. Sergiu Parfeni, 31, faces charges of trespassing, disorderly conduct and interfering with aircraft operation. He was scheduled to appear in court earlier this month but was held in a mental health facility following his arrest Dec. 2.
Parfeni is accused of sneaking through an emergency exit, running onto the tarmac and climbing into a plane's cargo hold, State Police said.
Troopers responded to a breach in Terminal C around 12:30 p.m. Dec. 2. Parfeni had already been removed from the plane by JetBlue ground operations workers.

Police swept the plane and did not find any hazardous or suspicious materials. Authorities do not believe Parfeni acted with terrorist intent.
Parfeni serves on the board of directors of MATV, Malden's local access station, according to WCVB. Executive Director Ron Cox told the network the allegations are "totally not [Parfeni's] character."
