U.S. Rep. Clark's Daughter Pleads Not Guilty After Boston Arrest

The daughter of U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark pleaded not guilty to charges following an arrest related to a vandalism incident.

BOSTON, MA — Riley Dowell, the daughter of U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark, pleaded not guilty following her arrest in Boston on Saturday, according to The Boston Globe. Dowell, 23, was arraigned on charges including assault and battery on a police officer and vandalizing a historic marker or monument.

She was released on $500 cash bail and ordered to stay away from Boston Common while the case is pending, The Boston Globe reported.

Dowell was arrested following a vandalism incident at the Parkman Bandstand Monument. An officer tried to arrest her after police said she was seen spray-painting anti-police messages near the bandstand. Boston police said a crowd surrounded the officer during the arrest.

"While interfering with the arrest of [Riley] Dowell, an officer was hit in the face and could be seen bleeding from the nose and mouth," Boston police reported.

Clark represents the 5th Congressional District, which covers parts of Middlesex County from Melrose west to Framingham. Clark was elected the minority whip of the House following the Republican takeover after the November election.
