Braintree Apartment Faces Receivership Over Living Conditions

The state AG's office has threatened the owners of an apartment building with receivership if they don't bring the building up to code.

BRAINTREE, MA — The state Attorney General's office has threatened the owners of an apartment building in Braintree with receivership if they don't bring the building up to code.

The Patriot Ledger reports that residents at the Skyline Drive Apartments are suffering from multiple code violations, including lack of heat, hot water, and working washers and dryers.

The AG's office is also involved and is considering taking the property into receivership if the violations are not addressed.

Mayor Joseph Sullivan said some apartments in the building lacked heat Thursday, the first cold day of the season. Apartments by law are required to turn on the heat by the end of September.

David Lane, a spokesman for the three LLCs that hold majority ownership of the building, said they want to solve the problem, promising things will be better in a month.
