Braintree Coronavirus: First 2 Drives Fill 8 Vans With Food
A third Braintree food and supply drive was scheduled. N-95 masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectant sprays and wipes are needed the most.
BRAINTREE, MA — The Braintree Community Task Force has scheduled another food and supply drive to help residents and first responders during the new coronavirus pandemic. The drive will take place from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday outside Town Hall.
Services Coordinator Kate Naughton said the first two drive-thru drives were huge successes. So far, the drives have filled eight Brewster vans with food to donate to the Marge Crispin Center.
Naughton said Fireking Bakery also donated 300 loaves of bread, and Stop & Shop gave 600 loaves.

"I couldn't believe it ...," Naughton said. "I didn't know anyone would come out at all because people might be scared of being around other people, but once again, Braintree stepped up."
Naughton said food is still needed, and people have done a good job donating mask and gloves. But what first responders need most right now is N-95 masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectant sprays and wipes.
