Braintree Day and Fourth of July Parade: What You Need to Know

There's a new parade route plus find out what's happening during the day!

Braintree, MA — One of the biggest days on the town calendar is almost here.

Saturday, Braintree will celebrate the Fourth of July and town pride with the annual parade, celebration at the high school, and fireworks. Things will kick off just before midday with the Fourth of July parade, which features a new route. Afterwards, the celebration moves to Braintree High School for games, music, fireworks, and more.

To help you get ready for the Fourth of July parade and Braintree Day, here's what you need to know:

The Parade

The parade is scheduled to start at 11:45 a.m. in the Registry of Motor Vehicles/Bayshore Athletic Club parking lot located at 14 Plain St. The parade will head north on Hancock Street, which becomes Washington Street, and ends at the Hollis School at 482 Washington St.

This year, the parade will not travel down Franklin Street and end at Braintree High School as in previous years. The committee made this decision in conjunction with the Office of Mayor Joe Sullivan, the Braintree Police Department, Braintree Fire Department in the interest of public safety, traffic management, time and logistics.

Participating in the parade will be local public safety departments, local veterans groups, elected officials, Crusader’s Senior Drum and Bugle Corps, Spartans Drum & Bugle Corps, Norwood Colonial Boys Fife & Drums, Aleppo Shriners Clowns, Mini Trucks, Fire Brigade, Oriental Band and more, Middlesex County Fife & Drums, Waltham American Legion Band, Bandmasters Drum Corps, The Big Nazo’s, Colum Cille Pipes & Drums, Branches Steel Drum Band, New Liberty Jazz Band, Irish American Police Officers Association Pipe & Drums, Worcester Sound & Lights, The Kids Komic Stilt Walker, Second Line Social Aid & Pleasure Society Brass Band, Old Colony Model T Club, S.S. Antique Auto Club, The Cycling Murray’s, Krakowiak Polish Dancers of Boston, Tony LePore the Dancing Cop, Vintage Army Vehicles, the Batmobile, and more.

The Festivities

The celebration at Braintree High School begins at 2 p.m. and will feature carnival rides, pony rides, food, games, live music, and a monster truck. Here's the full scheduled of bands performing:

  • 2:30 - 4 p.m. - The Memphis Rockabilly Band
  • 4:15 - 5:15 p.m. - Divas with a Twist
  • 5:30 - 7 p.m. - Groove Doctors
  • 7:15 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. - The Fat City Band



The Salute to Soldiers

The Salute to Our Soldiers program will honor all of our soldiers and veterans especially those who have recently returned from Iraq and Afghanistan. It is scheduled for 9:30 p.m.

The Fireworks!

The fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m. Promoters are promising one of the best displays in event history.

While the forecast shows a sunny Saturday, the rain date is June 26, 6-10 p.m. with DJ music and kids games starting at 6 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m.
