Braintree to Hold Welcome Reception for New Superintendent

Braintree will welcome their new superintendent to town next week with a special reception.

On Sept. 17, the school district will hold a welcome reception Dr. Frank Hackett, who will start as the new Braintree superintendent of schools in the next few weeks. The reception will take place in the Braintree High School foyer from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

After a failed search to find the successor of the recently retired Maureen Murray, Hackett was one of three interviewed and two finalists for the position during a second search. On June 30, Hackett was named the school committee’s top choice for the position after finalist interviews, with the soon to be former Pembroke superintendent accepting an offer to come to Braintree on July 21.

While Braintree makes the transition to a new superintendent, former head of schools Peter Kurzberg has served as the interim superintendent.
